Rowing Australia (
RA) is committed to safeguarding everyone involved in our sport, particularly children. Working With Children Checks and their equivalents in each State (
WWCC) are an important screening tool intended to prevent people from having access to children if records indicate that they may pose an unacceptable risk to children. Under the RA Child Safeguarding Policy, all coaches must comply with
applicable State or Territory laws.
Please note that, as of May 2023, RA requires all adults (aged 18+) in child-related positions based in Australia (as defined in the Rowing Australia Child Safeguarding Policy) to hold a valid WWCC, irrespective of whether they are required to obtain one under the laws of their jurisdiction. The only exception is WA, where individuals who qualify for the parent exemption are ineligible to apply for a WWCC.
In order to comply with this requirement, please ensure that you have filled out the working with children check registration section with your current information. Please contact
coaching@rowingaustralia.com.au if you require assistance.
